This post is so nostalgic because Cypress Gardens is in my hometown and it’s where my high school held Prom. (I’ll spare you those pictures!) This swamp/garden/butterfly conservatory is a true gem of Moncks Corner. When Allison & Tom asked to have their engagement session in the Gardens, I knew we were going to make magic. This is the same garden where the movie, The Notebook, was filmed so how could it NOT be romantic, RIGHT! :) More pictures to come!

This past weekend I traveled to Atlanta and photographed this fun-loving couple. The 7:30AM Atlanta light is creamy and dreamy- I melt just looking at these pictures! Mel and Walter are some of the spunkiest people I’ve ever met. Mel is sassy and Walter is a ham . . . the two pictures of Walter kissing her ring say it all.

Between the laughing we captured some insanely romantic moments and I’m thrilled to be shooting their wedding in the Florida Keys next year. Mel & Walter, thanks for getting up before the sun and for making my stay in Atlanta one that I’ll never forget.

August21st
Summer is at it’s peak and the Crapemyrtles are exploding with blooms. Their fluffy, lace edged petals remind me of fireworks. They burst out our their tiny, circular pods in rapid sequence; as if, overnight, they decide that the world needs more color. Thankfully, some of our Charleston Crapemyrtles decided to match Sallie’s dress! Sallie and Jason came all the way from Virginia to have their engagement photos taken, and I do believe Charleston was as gracious to us as she could be. The lighting was gorgeous and the morning was as cool (as cool as a morning in August, in the south can be). Sallie & Jason, thanks for being so sweet with each other & I can’t wait to shoot your wedding!

I’ve been waiting a long time to photograph this wedding. Mishelle and Stacey asked me to shoot their engagement pictures over a year ago. They endured a long drive, a seemingly endless walk, Charleston mosquitoes, and sand gnats for this shot:
I knew they were going to be amazing people to work with! Mishelle is the epitome of demure elegance. Stacey treats her like a lady and it was such a breath of fresh air to witness the way they interacted. They both had a large bridal party- and it’s no wonder . . . they are they kind of people you want in your life. Salt of the earth kind of people. Some of the things I enjoyed most about their Charleston wedding are the first look Mishelle had with her father, the storm that held off & gave dramatic cloud pictures, and the way Mishelle’s Latina family gets down on the dance floor!!! Her family hails from Ecuador and they are all demons on the dance floor! Here are some highlights from their gorgeous affair at The Island House.
April30th
Laura and Ed are both teachers- Laura teaches kindergarten and Ed 4th grade. I love their story because it reminds me how random acts of kindness lead to wonderful stories. Ed graduated from school in New York and found a job in South Carolina. He called the school, where he would be working, and asked for a teacher- any teacher- who could give him tips for picking a place to live. This is where Laura comes in. She is the epitome of every child’s dream for a kindergarten teacher- kind, soft spoken, fun-loving, and gentle. She gave Ed all the information he needed and they set up a time to meet. The only thing is that she thought he was a young college kid and he thought she was a woman approaching her 40′s. They were both wrong- and the rest is history! Laura & Ed, I can’t wait to shoot your wedding!!
