Meet Willa Gray!

My new niece, Willa Gray, has finally arrived! Isn’t she just the sweetest little angel?!Birth_Photography_McBee_Photography

My sister, Rebecca, allowed me to try my hand at birth photography.  This was my first time witnessing a birth, (one when I wasn’t pushing) and no one can prepare you for the flood of emotions that come from anticipating and finally SEEING that sweet baby.  Rebecca had a very difficult 55 hours leading up to the birth.  She wasn’t able to deliver naturally at the Charleston Birth Place because of preeclampsia. :( I won’t get into any details BUT these pictures were taken on the morning of DAY 3, having just come of a pitocin drip with no pain meds.  Poor girl!!!  Here’s Willa’s birth story, in pictures. When Rebecca saw this next picture she remembered looking over at her midwife and thinking, “How can anyone knit at a time like this and why isn’t she helping me?!?” In hindsight, she realized no one can do your labor but you, and these wise birth experts gave guidance and support when needed, and quiet the rest of the time.
